Anchan in The Magus Circle
Sixth on the rail, locked at 25, blue horns — and a combat shot that is likely this kit in the Tide.
Anchan is the sixth portrait on The Magus Circle’s 0.4.6 character-select rail, sitting under Rum at the bottom of the list. The sprite is a blue horned caster with a staff. The same screenshot stamps a lock and 25 next to the portrait, with a purple droplet in the currency corner. That 25 is a demo-era price from version 0.4.6. It is not a launch promise for 24 September 2026. Do not write it into a shopping list as if Steam already printed a live shop.
The Magus Circle is a single-player survival roguelite. Steam lists 24 September 2026. The Next Fest demo opened on 23 February 2026. Anchan is playable in the sense that the studio put a sixth face on the rail and gated it. Anchan is not documented the way Milk is documented. This page is an access-and-identity guide, not a fake combat card.
What the lock screenshot shows
Left rail, top to bottom: Milk, Matcha, Coffee, Chicha, Rum, Anchan. Milk through Rum are open in that shot. Anchan is the only lock. The badge reads 25. Currency art is a purple droplet (the tarot UI elsewhere showed 77 of the same droplet). Treat 25 as “this festival build asked for 25,” not “the 24 September 2026 client will always ask for 25.”
The portrait itself: blue-violet hood or hair, pale horns, a staff. That silhouette matches a combat screenshot this wiki uses as the hero image on this page: a blue horned mage in the field, drawing a purple circle, HUD labeled 0.4.6, timer 01:11, kills 87, XP Bonus 1.05x, level moving from 2 to 3. Bottom-left portrait on that HUD is the same horned face. This wiki will say the combat shot is likely Anchan. It will not say the purple ring is Anchan’s unique signature, because the ring is how this game casts. Everyone draws a circle. The horns are the identity. The circle is the verb.
No published Nimble-style tooltip
Milk’s select pane prints Nimble and Bunny Form in plain English, including 3 seconds, 25% move speed, 50% size, 25-second cooldown. Rum has designer talk about Spellblade, crits, a parry, Drenal, Ido, Lonlight Chakras. Anchan does not have that public paragraph in the materials we used. Do not invent a horn charge, a freeze nova, a lunar shield, or a 25-cost ultimate that puns on the lock. Read the in-game card after you spend the droplets. Believe that card.
If your build still shows the lock, you do not have a kit to theorycraft. You have a price. Earn the droplets, or play someone else.
How 25 should fit a session
Currency in this game is a Magus Mansion resource. You extract from a Tide — often after a Leviathan, often in a 10–15 minute window in demo talk — and you spend in the hub: tarot, tea, familiars, Odds wagers, unlocks. Anchan’s 25 sits in that same wallet. It is not a separate premium shop.
Practical order:
- Finish a sigil on Milk or Rum. Getting started and how to play exist so you do not dump 25 into a face you cannot keep alive.
- Extract cleanly. Death still returns you to the mansion, but a failed greed run is a slow way to farm droplets. Boss notes: how to beat bosses.
- Walk the magus mansion. Buy a mana-regen tarot if your drawings abort (Priestess / Hierophant +0.5 Mana Regen). Buy Empress Upright +10% Speed if you get clipped mid-stroke. Then look at Anchan.
- Spend 25 only if the lock is still 25 in your build. If the number moved, trust the client.
Do not skip tea, familiars, and Odds just to rush the sixth portrait. Odds is a bartender-bookie, not a seventh mage. Curio is hub sass from the Next Fest thank-you, not a kit. The six playable names are the rail.
How to learn the kit after the lock opens
Same rules as Coffee and Chicha, with worse stakes because you paid for the slot.
- Read the tooltip twice. Screenshot it.
- Lock one Tide spell you can finish while moving. Ice Spear and Riptide are the demo workhorses. Magic missile, meteor swarm, and chain lightning still have to be drawn. Use the spell sigils table. Rank power later on the spell tier list.
- Watch whether the horns want you planted or sliding. The combat shot shows a caster inside a large purple ring with sparkles and a small monster nearby — early-run density, not a Leviathan. That shot proves Anchan (likely) enters the same World-of-Mirna-style field as Milk. It does not prove a unique execute.
- Die, walk the mansion, decide whether the kit earned another 10–15 minutes.
Drawing still uses crude recognition. A tablet is optional. A mouse is enough. How to draw spells does not become optional because the portrait has horns.
Tarot is not an Anchan reprint
Demo-era cards from a 0.4.1 spread:
- The Magus — Bunny Form (Milk-shaped).
- The Priestess — +0.5 Mana Regen.
- The Empress — Upright +10% Speed, Reversed +10% Mana Efficiency.
- The Emperor — +10% Duration at T1.
- The Hierophant — +0.5 Mana Regen at T1.
The upgrade tier list ranks types, not 250 fake names. On Anchan, take mana and movement until the printed passive tells you something more specific. Magus Bunny Form is a skip unless the tooltip says it applies.
Comparisons
- Milk: start here. Printed near-miss refund. Do not spend 25 before you can slip a hitbox.
- Matcha: unlocked tea-room face, still missing a Milk-level tooltip, but no 25 gate in that screenshot.
- Coffee: third rail, mansion cauldron line, also missing a combat tooltip, also unlocked.
- Chicha: fourth, green-gold, unlocked, same “read the card” problem without a lock.
- Rum: fifth, Spellblade. If you want a defined combat fantasy after Milk, Rum is the thicker page. Anchan is the patience tax.
The character tier list parks Anchan in a preview B band for access cost plus missing tooltip. B is not a damage ranking. The mages hub is the roster map.
Demo versus the date Steam lists
Festival build 0.4.6 is a snapshot. Unlock numbers move. Spell counts grew from about 12 toward 20 in studio talk. Hub activities are on the “more” list from the Next Fest thank-you. If Anchan is free, more expensive, or missing in a later client, this page’s 25 is history, not a coupon. Track the slice on the demo guide and the calendar on the release date page.

Anchan is the sixth name, the blue horns, the likely purple-circle combat shot, and a 25-droplet gate that belonged to a labeled 0.4.6 screenshot. Pay that tax after you can draw. Do not pay it to own a silhouette. When the in-game card finally prints a sentence, this page should quote it. Until then the honest guide is: look at the lock, look at the horns, look at the field shot, and refuse every rumor kit that grew in the gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why is Anchan locked?
A 0.4.6 select screenshot showed Anchan behind 25 currency (purple droplet). See the mages hub for the rest of the rail.
Is 25 the launch unlock price?
No. 25 is a demo-era number from that screenshot, not a promise for 24 September 2026. Recheck the client. Festival notes: demo.
Is the blue horned combat mage Anchan?
Very likely. The field shot of a blue horned caster drawing a purple circle matches the sixth portrait. The circle itself is the game's cast verb, not proof of a unique spell.
Should I unlock Anchan first?
No. Start on Milk. Spend 25 after you can finish a sigil. First-hour order: getting started.
What is Anchan's printed combat kit?
This wiki has no Nimble-style tooltip for Anchan. Read the in-game card after the lock opens. Rank faces on the character tier list.
