Guides Hub

The Magus Circle is a single-player survival roguelite from By Witchlight. You do not tap a hotbar. You draw a sigil, the circle answers, and the Tide of mana-hungry monsters closes in. This Guides Hub is the map of every tutorial on the wiki: the first hour, drawing, the run loop, Leviathan fights, and the Steam Next Fest demo.

Steam lists 24 September 2026 for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with English and Korean. A price is not listed yet; the store still shows coming soon. Use these pages to practice before that date. They are not a live patch tracker for a build that has not shipped.

First hour and wishlist

If you have not finished a run, open Getting Started. That page covers the Steam wishlist, a controls overview that does not invent extra keybinds, a first mage pick, and a first-run checklist. Pair it with the wishlist checklist and system requirements so the client and the machine are ready before you draw.

Draw before you theorycraft

Every attack is a drawing. The studio is blunt: you do not need to be an artist, and even crude sigils still hold magic. A drawing tablet is optional. A mouse is enough. Read how to draw spells, then keep the spell sigils sheet nearby as a practice card. Skip this and you will die with a half-finished circle while the HUD still shows potions on the left, spell slots on the right, plus XP bonus, timer, kill count, and level.

The Tide loop

How to play is the loop page: XP, loot, Magus Mansion tea, tarot, familiars, Odds the bartender-bookie, and the challenges you pick after a victory. Demo players often saw runs land in the 10–15 minute range. After a Leviathan you can teleport home or keep pushing. Death sends you back to the mansion, not out of the game.

Leviathans

How to beat bosses is about positioning while your cursor is busy. Ice Spear hits hard. Riptide shoves. One 30-minute demo recording met the first Leviathan around the 13-minute mark in the World of Mirna. Treat that as proof the boss is a mid-run event, not a timer you must hit.

Demo notes

The demo guide records what Steam Next Fest showed when the demo (app 4289390) opened on 23 February 2026. It sat at Very Positive with 163 reviews, about 98 percent, and more than 21,000 Next Fest players. KevDev thanked that crowd, pointed at Discord and Patreon, and promised more characters, maps, spells, upgrades, hub activities, and more sass from curio. For the festival recap see Next Fest. For the calendar see the release date page.

Builds, mages, and adjacent hubs

Guides tell you how to move. Other hubs tell you what to pick.

  • Players is the roster of six playable mages. Milk is the nimble starter: near-miss speed and mana, plus Bunny Form. Rum is the Spellblade crit kit. Matcha is another confirmed mansion name. Coffee, Chicha, and Anchan round out the six; a screenshot showed Anchan locked behind 25 currency.
  • Tier List splits into spells, characters, and upgrades. Studio notes put unique upgrades past 250 and unique spells around 20, up from 12.
  • Tools holds practical checklists. Updates tracks what By Witchlight has said. Links collects Steam, the studio site, and official Discord.

People compare the feel to Vampire Survivors and to Lost Magic. Those are reference points for auto-survivors and drawn magic, not a claim that The Magus Circle is either game. It is a single-player bullet-hell roguelite with a hand-drawn circle.

How to read this wiki

Open one guide, follow its sibling links, then jump to a mage or a tier page. Internal paths always end with a slash. English sits at the root; Korean uses a prefix. Legal pages stay English-only.

Do not look here for promo codes or executable scripts. This is not a Roblox place. There is no extra player in the circle. You, a cursor, and the Tide.

If a number on this hub disagrees with a later studio post, trust Updates and the Steam listing for app 2796640. Demo HUD shots showed version 0.4.6. The full game planned for 24 September 2026 will not freeze that build in amber.

Two more tutorials sit in this hub: the Magus Mansion walkthrough (tea, tarot, Spell Crafting, Odds) and melee for spellcasters for close-range drawing. The PC nav shows at most eight Guides entries; everything here fits that list.

Stretch the hand you draw with, wishlist the Steam page, and pick a tutorial. The Magus Mansion will still have tea when the run ends.
